RFS Get Ready Weekend was held on the 14-15 September. There were over 600 events held across the state on the weekend to prepare communities for the coming bushfire season.
The events were an opportunity for community members to meet their local firefighters, educate children on fire dangers and to learn more about how to plan and prepare their home and their family for the threat of bushfires.
Julian Leeser MP attended the Cherrybrook RFS Get Ready Weekend, “It is already turning out to be a bushfire season that will be remembered for years to come. The Berowra community is no more immune to fires than the rest of Australia. This is why it is important to prepare for bushfires now, don’t wait for summer to come.”
The RFS is urging people to prepare. Preparing your home reduces the chance of your home being affected even if there is a fire.
“One of my fears since becoming the Member for Berowra, has been that one day our community will be significantly affected by the devastation of a fire,” said Julian Leeser MP. “I want to make sure we are prepared and have done all we can to reduce the likelihood and impact of bushfires on our community.”
Local residents are encouraged to lock in a time in the next couple of weeks to develop a bushfire survival plan for you and your family.
