Federal Member for Berowra Julian Leeser MP has presented Normanhurst Scouts with a grant for the renovation of their kitchen.

Normanhurst Scouts camped overnight at Crosslands Reserve in Hornsby Heights over the weekend – and despite the wet weather – the rain did little to dampen the mood.

Mr Leeser’s $8,000 contribution for their kitchen renovation was warmly received.

“A better kitchen means better opportunities for the Scouts and a better ability to rent out their excellent hall,” Mr Leeser said.

“Through investments like this, we are strengthening Normanhurst Scouts and their ability to fundraise – and more importantly – have fun.”

Normanhurst Scout Group Leader Duncan McRae thanked Mr Leeser for his contribution, explaining how the much needed money would help them transform their kitchen.

“Our kitchen has aged significantly and is currently unsuitable for most food preparation and serving.”

“This money will completely change that – not only for Scouts, but also for the community groups who rent the hall.”

The $8,000 grant was provided by Mr Leeser as part of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program, which allocates $150,000 to each electorate for projects that create vibrant and viable communities.
