Federal Member for Berowra Julian Leeser MP has presented Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Sailing Club (PCYC) with a $12,000 Stronger Communities grant for the upgrade of their Brooklyn clubhouse.

Mr Leeser visited the Club over the weekend, hearing directly from children and their parents about what the money means for them.

“Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Sailing Club is the only Junior and Youth Dinghy Sailing Club in the Berowra electorate – so I’m proud to be able to deliver for a club that delivers for the community,” Mr Leeser said.

“This $12,000 in federal funding will help them completely transform their clubhouse into a venue fitting for such an excellent organisation.”

Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Sailing Club Principal Training Officer Alexander Stewart thanked Mr Leeser for his contribution.

“Mr Leeser’s generous allocation from the Stronger Communities Program will allow us to improve safety and amenity at our clubhouse, and establish better access to Dead Horse Beach for members and the public alike”, said Mr Stewart.

“Our sport of sailing is played in unpredictable weather conditions. Thanks to the support of the Australian Government, our land-based facilities will now offer shelter from the elements and a stable platform for training and catering for our sailors, their volunteer coaches and supporters.”

The $12,000 grant was provided by Mr Leeser as part of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program, which allocates $150,000 to each electorate for projects that create vibrant and viable communities.
