Federal Member for Berowra Julian Leeser MP has presented Cheltenham Recreation Club with a grant for the renovation of their croquet clubhouse.

The money allowed Cheltenham Recreation Club to install a new corrugated roof and drainpipe on their clubhouse, which provides shelter to both the croquet players and their gear.

Mr Leeser’s $8,930 contribution represented 50 per cent of the entire project’s $17,860 cost.

“Cheltenham Croquet Club is one of the largest and oldest in the country. This money means they now have the facilities fitting for such an iconic local institution” Mr Leeser said.

“I’m thrilled to provide Cheltenham Recreation Club with close to $9,000 so that they could upgrade their croquet clubhouse and better cater for the community and their members.”

Cheltenham Croquet Club’s President Lesley Tregoning thanked Mr Leeser for his contribution, explaining how the much needed money helped them transform their clubhouse.

“This money is a big benefit for our croquet club. We had a roof that was leaking, a downpipe that was falling off and rotten timbers,” Ms Tregoning said.
