The Brooklyn community is looking forward to many more entertaining performances from Brooklyn Community Theatre’s Theatre in the Park on their new stage. Federal Member for Berowra, Julian Leeser MP, has presented the Brooklyn Community Association with a $10,000 grant to build a stage for their ampitheatre.

The much loved Brooklyn Community Theatre has been entertaining the Brooklyn community since 1999. The theatre group is run by volunteers and provides a family atmosphere where everyone in the community can enjoy quality live theatre. Past productions include:

  • Funny Money
  • The Game’s Afoot
  • The Foreigner
The stage will be a welcome addition to their outdoor amphitheatre.

“The Arts are vital to our community. Shakespeare wrote, the arts ‘hold a mirror up to nature’,” said Mr Leeser.

“I am proud of the people in our community who use their talents to entertain, move and inspire others and I look forward to seeing Brooklyn Community Theatre perform on their new stage.”

Brooklyn Community Theatre’s Director, Peter Hughes said, “Brooklyn Community Theatre is delighted to receive this grant. It will help us to build a permanent stage floor at the Brooklyn Rest Park. Not only will this secure the future of Theatre in the Park and save hundreds of hours of volunteer labour each year but can also be used by the wider community. Thanks Julian it is greatly appreciated.”
