Wisemans Ferry Public School is receiving federal funding for a new playground.

Julian Leeser MP recently visited the school to announce the Morrison Government would be contributing $5,000 towards a new playground.

The old playground is now structurally unsound and has been out of use for some time due to safety issues.

“Our children should have access to safe playgrounds,” said Julian Leeser MP. “It was great to be able to give Wisemans Ferry Public School funding towards their new playground.”

“I know the playground will be a welcome addition to the students’ lunchtimes and also to the Wisemans Ferry community more broadly.”

The Wisemans Ferry Public School is involved in the ‘Share our Space’ program which allows wider community access to the grounds of the school during the holiday periods.

“Students have enjoyed being part of the process of deciding what features they would like to see in a new playground,” said Deirdre Dorbis, the School Principal.

“The benefit of the new playground reaches beyond the school term and our own students, as it will enable the broader community to have access to play equipment during the school holidays.”

The funds are provided as part of the Local Schools Community Fund. For more information about the fund, visit https://www.education.gov.au/local-schools-community-fund
