Improving facilities for students with disabilities in Berowra
Schools students at Oakhill College and Mount St Benedict College in Berowra will benefit from additional facilities at their school.
The Member for Berowra Julian Leeser recently announced the Australian Government would be funding a number of projects in our community through the Capital Grants Program to give students with a disability greater access to resources and support.
Oakhill College is using the $200,000 from the Morrison Government to install a lift, paths and ramps to provide access that meets the disability access standards.
“We’re looking forward to the installation of the new lift and ramps as they will enable students with mobility needs to access the learning support building as well as the upper playground,” said Br Steve Hogan.
Mount St Benedict College in Pennant Hills will use their grant of $164,400 to upgrade to the school’s Support Centre, catering for the needs of students with disabilities thanks to a Morrison Government grant.
“These upgrades will help Mount St Benedict College ensure our students with disabilities have access to the additional support they need,” said Principal Maria Pearson.
“Students and teachers thrive when their schools have modern and up-to-date facilities – that’s why the Morrison Government is proud of the Capital Grants Program, which has benefited thousands of schools across the nation,” Mr Leeser said.
“The Government has committed $703 million until 2022, which provides funding for
non-government schools to improve capital infrastructure.
“I congratulate Mount St Benedict College and Oakhill College for their successful grant and look forward to seeing the impact these improvements will have in our community.”
