Federal Member for Berowra, Julian Leeser MP and Minister for Finance, Mathias Cormann visited Greenway Park on Thursday to inspect the Greenway Park clubhouse.
“Greenway Park is home to seven vibrant sporting clubs, more than 2,000 families and 8,000 players”, said Mr Leeser. “The clubs came to me seeking support to upgrade the Greenway Park Sports House. I am proud to be fighting for the funding of this project alongside these local sporting clubs.”
“Seven sporting clubs of calibre share Greenway Park – and while they all it home, in its current state, it’s not the most fitting home,” Mr Leeser said.
“I pledged that I would take the case for a Greenway Park upgrade directly to my federal colleagues. This is why I brought the Minister for Finance to Greenway Park today, to show him the strength of community support for this project.”
The seven sporting clubs that call Cherrybrook’s Greenway Park home have united in a push to secure federal funding for a Greenway Community Sports House.
The clubs are seeking $2.5 million in funding to construct the Greenway Community Sports House, which would directly address problems like:
- Limited change rooms that discourage female participation
- A lack of shade for spectators
- Poor disability access
- The lack of a simple and safe sheltered facility for club gatherings
