Cherrybrook Celebrates Great Grant for Scout Storage

Federal Member for Berowra Julian Leeser MP has presented Cherrybrook Scouts with an $8,000 grant for the extension of their Scout Hall.

The Federal Government grant will allow Cherrybrook Scouts to undertake a ‘light touch’ extension using two stacked shipping containers clad with colourbond.

The innovative construction method means the project will be economical, while still achieving the increased storage needed to accommodate the Scouts’ successful youth program.

“Cherrybrook Scouts is shaping the successful leaders of tomorrow, while keeping them fit and healthy today,” Mr Leeser said.

“This great grant will generate more storage space – resulting in longer-lasting equipment and extra room for activities.”

Cherrybrook Scout Leader Stephen Hunt thanked Mr Leeser for his contribution, explaining how the much needed money will promote their programs.

“1st Cherrybrook Scout Group is very grateful for the continued and enthusiastic support from Julian.”

“This grant will help the Group store its camping and resource equipment more effectively and safely and, in turn, assist the Group on continuing to provide a fun and safe scouting experience for the local community,” Mr Hunt said.

The Cherrybrook Scout Hall extension is expected to be completed by May.

The $8,000 grant was provided by Mr Leeser as part of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program, which allocates $150,000 to each electorate for projects that create vibrant and viable communities.
